Teams should be able to select 2 representatives and play a match of competitive Mario party 2 instead of swamp fever.

The thing that makes Swamp Fever painful to play is the time it takes. I can completely agree that it's a balanced map with solid tank fights and such... But especially now with Finite Hordes in Acemod/EQ, every single map has a waiting event.

Map 1: Survivors go back to a super open area to wait out an event. Tank possibly plays a long rock tank in multiple areas.
Map 2: Survivors go back to a super open area to wait out an event. Tank usually plays a long rock tank in one area, sometimes another.
Map 3: Survivors go back to a super open area to wait out an event. Tank often is a rock tank here as well.
Map 4: It's a finale~~~! More waiting! And sometimes a rock tank too!

Particularly in PUGs, nobody likes having to throw SI at survivors over and over again to get mowed down with 90% success rate (thanks yams for the diagram).

Swamp Fever is a 4 map campaign that always takes over an hour to play.

I made a tweak to RNG hittables a while back that made them much more predictable and less random and everyone complained until it was removed. Blame the community for liking their bouncy, rubber, luck based hittables.

Honestly I loved your modified hittables. Kind of wondering if now would be a good time to see them tried out again (with a different mix of players around). Maybe we need a new redtown.

New redtown?

I have a better idea...
$10 says you aren't anywhere near a controlling position of the L4D3 scene in any continent when it happens.

Thing is he does what he wants, cause his able to and we are letting him do that. He abuses hes place and power in this community and people like me get banned for no reason. Only thing visor wants is more and more control so he can do what ever he wants.

This. I like to play Swamp, and like NF said I find it very balanced. (I also think it has some of the most interesting tank fights.) But I can sympathize with people who don't like all the crescendos where you're just standing around shooting 7-8 waves of megamobs.

I have some arguments against this you might find interesting, but I don't want to derail too much. We can talk offline or maybe start a new thread?

Probably should have most of these posts split into a new thread but anyway,

its frustrating playing infected even with water slowdown against good teams, and lucky hittables can be very decisive.  It's actually a ridiculously easy map on survivor for better teams if you don't include early map 1 & 3 (sometimes 4) tanks with lucky hittables.

p.s. the hitboxes on the edge of trees when you're a smoker/boomer are completely fucking retarded.

lol

hittaables are dumb it wasnt my fault

I have never seen anyone agree with each other that swamp fever is well balanced map. I've never liked nor has anyone on any of my teams liked swamp fever. Now without water slowdown, It's the worst map I could think of.

Map 1: survivors can start "event" and run back to safe room and basically be dealt no damage if decent enough because the spawns have to run in from miles away with no common at the survivors.
Map 1: one team gets terrible luck with hittables, spawns, etc, gets wiped. the other team doesn't have said bad luck and makes map for distance and/or bonus, scores are ridiculous. the rest of the campaign is ridiculously easy because of it being so open with terrible spawns for infected, and makes it extremely hard or impossible for the other team to come back.
Map 2: the tank is the only time you're going to get alot of damage and even then, without slowdown, it's terrible.
Map 3: unless you get early safe room tank, you're fucked. this map has a few more spawns than the previous ones, but still pretty shitty considering the map layout.
Map 4: probably the only playable map in the entire campaign but still eh...

also pretty sure Grizz pointed out when we had to play swamp over a year ago, that the common pathing for swamp is broken because certain spots common for booms and such get stuck on the outside of the map, etc. I feel like the ones saying swamp fever is balanced are the ones who don't play the game as much as the ones who say it isn't. not that you don't know what you're talking about, but you don't deal with the pain of the ones who have to play this shitty map.

If the thread turns into a talk about maps I don't mind.  I'd rather have a conversation about things we can change than no conversation at all.  As long as it stays constructive and doesn't devolve into something less, it's fine.

As far as Swamp Fever goes with me, I love the map.  I enjoy the environment and map in general.  That being said, maybe it does need some tweaks for competitve balance.  If there's a big enough case for it, I'm sure that NF will eventually get around to it, whether it's in time for the tournament or not is obviously not something I can comment on, but he has always been willing to help with map changes and has done a great job thus far.  I do agree that the map is extremely hard for the SI as the spawns (trees) are very hard to spawn behind because if you have a group of survivors spread out, they can cover almost every tree by their LOS' and the ones closer by proximity.  Then, where there are no trees, they're just wide-open areas with nothing else around for spawns.  I won't suggest map changes, but if you look at the map layout it's pretty rough, circle spawns into wide-open areas into more circle spawns.

P.S.- I'm unsure of where the whole 'get rid of Swamp Fever for Passifice' came from, but please don't get your hopes on me taking it out incase I don't.  This was just meant to gauge the interest in Passifice.  Thank you once again for the votes.

Lol, I actually argued that c3m1 is worth too much distance (due to the hittable luck factor) but I was shot down. With that + water slowdown Supra has a point.

600 Distance + 1200HB is too much for the first map.
500 Distance + 1000HB should be fine, or 400 + 800.

Map distance was fixed a while ago in Promod 4.5.

swamp fever may be balanced but it's the least enjoyable map to play on by far. just use custom maps the community has found several very solid and liked maps

Just an update as the tournament is now within 24 hours of closing for signups:

-The Passifice has been added to the Map Pool.
-Swamp Fever will be staying (look into the Acemod V3 changes for the map).

Thank you to everyone that voted!
