Offtopic / FightCade - play retro arcade games over the internet
« on: May 25, 2016, 12:33:48 pm »
If anyone is interested in playing some retro fighting games, you should really check out FightCade. It's a network-enabled arcade emulator that lets you play VS Roms on WAN. I've been playing a bunch of Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike lately and having bunches of fun.

If you sign up, let me know and we can play some games! (Don't worry, I'm bad.)

Round 6

Round Starts: Monday, May 23rd @ 12:01AM PST
Round Ends: Sunday, May 30th @ 11:59PM PST
Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the sixth round of the Bleed Out Tournament!
*2 Weeks Left of Groups!*

Some quick things for ease of access for both the teams and the spectators/admins:

Rules

Pairings

Team Sign-Ups

Announcement Page

Doodle (Scheduling Tool)

Please be sure to read the rules along with your team.  If something is clearly defined in the rules, no admin is required to answer you.  Time and time again, admins are hounded for answers that players could know by easily opening up the rules.

The link labeled 'Doodle' is a time scheduling website.  Please use it for all of your matches.  You just have each team member make a list of times they can play and then find when both teams have 4 players and that will be your time to play.  It really does help, ask any team that's used it.  Here is also a Pastebin of all the teams and players for easy searching.

This thread is reserved for match times and scores.  Please be sure to take a screenshot at the end of the match(es) and post it here with the team names.

READ ME:  I would like to point out that you can not use players who were previously on a team in the tournament.  In other words, even if a players team drops out of the tournament completely, you can not, for any reason, use that person in your match.  This is to avoid people from dropping out just to ring for others and will also stay in effect throughout the playoffs.

Goodluck to all teams!

Shocking!

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-intersect/wp/2015/07/20/men-who-harass-women-online-are-quite-literally-losers-new-study-finds/

Quote
Here’s a research finding that should surprise no one: The men most likely to harass women online … are the men most likely to have their own problems.

[...]

[N]o matter their skill level, or how the game went — men tended to be pretty cordial to each other. Male players who were good at the game also tended to pay compliments to other male and female players.

Some male players, however — the ones who were less-skilled at the game, and performing worse relative their peers — made frequent, nasty comments to the female gamers. In other words, sexist dudes are literally losers.

I want to thank everyone who participated -- you are why this tournament has been a success!

Now, on to the playoffs.

For brackets,
Click >>>HERE<<<

The playoffs will consist of three (3) rounds of play: quarter-finals, semi-finals, and grand-finals.

Quarter-final matches will be determined by the result of a single game. Semi-final and grand-final matches will be "Best of 3" games.

Results of each match must be posted in this thread, with a screenshot of the scores for each game, by the round end deadline.

Map Selection

Several people have told me that the map selection process for semi-final and grand-final matches is too complicated. Therefore, I am amending it. If you are a participant, please read the following carefully.

For each round, I have published a map for Game 1 below. That will be the map played in the first game of each match. The loser of the first game will pick the map for the second game. If a third game is necessary, the loser of the second game will pick the map for the third game.

You may not pick a map that has already been played in the same match, and the maps must be in the map pool.

Schedule

Due to the logistical hurdles associated with scheduling and completing up to three games, I am extending the deadlines for the Semi Finals and Grand Finals. Round end dates are published below. These are "drop dead" dates for the round to end.

There is no rule against playing matches ahead of schedule. It is completely optional, but strongly encouraged. Please contact me if there are any conflicts in scheduling.

It is not necessary that all three games be played one after the other in the same day. My only requirement is that the complete match results be posted before the round end date.

Round 1
Map: The Parish

Round ends: March 22nd, 2015 (Midnight PT)

Round 2
