News / Re: Officially Announcing The Really Big Tournament #4!
« on: January 06, 2019, 07:29:21 pm »

I'm only 13 but I have MorphVOX voice changer to make sound like man can I apply?
You're hired.

I changed my mind, I would like to file an appeal.

I am adding a new requirement:

•  You must not be Bravo.
Some description goes here.

There is a tournament coming up and I am in need of new caster/commentators. If you've ever wanted to try out casting live matches then this is your opportunity!

Here are some requirements:

•  You must speak fluent English.
You don't need to be an English major. Just fluent and not struggling with words.

•  Have a basic understanding of L4D2 and competitive mechanics.
You don't need to be high-tier, mid-tier, ect. You simply need to understand the basics.

•  You must be over 18.
There could possibly be exceptions to this rule. I just simply don't want kids voices.

•  You must have Discord & Mumble readily available.
I am still not sure which voice program will be used. Please also make sure your microphone is clear, and there are no risks of you disappearing in the middle of a tournament.

•  No politics, religion, or trash talk.
You can discuss it all you want off the stream, with friends, in steam chat. I don't care. Just don't bring it up during the tournament streams.

That's currently my only list of requirements. It's not much to ask.

I will be hosting live tryouts during the evenings when I get people interested. They will be recorded and viewed by others, so you need to make sure you are comfortable with speaking to an audience. I am generally very open to new casters, and have a lot of experience teaching.

If you're interested, please hit me up through the Official L4DNation Discord. Upon joining, you can DM(Direct Message) me:

If for whatever reason you can't get Discord working, then please hit me up on Steam as a last resort.

tfw you realize xbye is just as sociopathic as jay
That's a bit of a stretch considering how altruistic I've always been.

teaching mechanics is not the same as teaching how to play

You can do both with mentoring. Again, there is a reason e-sports teams have coaches. Those players sure as hell know how to play far better than the coaches themselves, so why are these e-sports teams hiring coaches for supposedly the best players in the world?

Learning how to play yourself > being mentored by pRoFfesioNal pLaYeRsXDD

I said good mentoring, not "pRoFeZiNaL PLYRZ". A lot of the pRoFeZiNaL PLYRZ are awful at mentoring.

Just because you are well versed in something doesn't mean you would be a great teacher in the subject. Providing information is one thing, making sure they can retain it through and execute it regularly is another.

There is a reason my 1on1 lessons were sought after by non-elitist assholes, and were even recommended by people who were less than fond of me.

A lot of players find it easier to put their toes in the water and work their way up. Which is what Left2Learn ran as for a while, which it was most successful during that time. A place where people who were too scared to pug because of the clear toxicity and elitism that kept them from even trying.

(ie, a guy that only plays pugs and pub games because he finds it too difficult to communicate with others in a team setting)

I seriously hope this isn't directed at me.

Watching matches/VODS > Mentoring
I hope this is bait, otherwise you're a complete idiot if you think watching VODs from a third-person perspective outweighs first hand experience with good mentoring.
