Game might be dead, but the forum sure comes sparkling with life when a controversial topic shows up. Heck, even the exiled Danne chimed in!

Although I despise high ping gameplay, for the sake of having more teams sign up, it might be better to apply the "fair" home / away system everywhere, including Asia (or not).

Playing with high ping degrades the experience a lot, but so does having a low amount of teams. I wonder which is worse? That ultimately comes down to "pick your poison". Everyone's different, so no one is wrong or right in a sense. Ergo it's up to the tournament organisers to decide, and we shouldn't give him flack for making a decision like this.

Just busy playing better games nowadays friend.  :)

What you said is essentially the crux of it, if the people who pay to host the servers and are putting their time into running the tournament want to do it a certain way then that's their prerogative. I don't necessarily agree with the direction this particular tournament will take but I recognize that it is completely up to them.

It was home and away. If you see on Rail's Post in that post you linked to it. He says "2nd game in that stream."

Also, regardless of how those rules were in that Tournament, I would have preferred to play home and away in order for it to be more fair. I would much rather play on fair ground than to win against a team that had a huge disadvantage. nv obviously didn't need that fair ground because they were amazing.

It was one game, He is talking about a match involving two others teams played just prior to your match, Hence the second game in that stream vod, not the second game involving Nv and Wolfpack. That RBT tournament was certainly American server only.

On topic; Jay, I don't think this is the time to be catering to specific regions or groups of people, The game is on it's last legs and it's only going in one direction if you start acting in a divisive manner. That being said If the owners of your group want a tournament based in their region then that's completely up to them and nobody can really complain, They are the ones funding the servers.

I'll be honest, the problem with home and away was never the time taken to complete the matches, Let's stop pretending that  everyone participating doesn't have far more than 2 hours per week to set aside for a match. The problem was that there was a bunch of people who would make scheduling a match akin to walking through the fires of hell. That's solved by taking a hands on approach to officiating the tournament - I.e you determine where teams will be playing their matches and don't leave it up to them to squabble about, that's when the problems begin. Best of luck with your tournament but at this point I really doubt you'll get many teams entering this.

Realistically, what can you expect though?
"We" have modified the game so hard without ESL being around in L4D2 that it's hard to get into as new admin.

Yes you're completely right and I do understand that - I don't blame the admin(s) responsible for hosting these tournaments. Some guidance or information from someone within the competitive community would be beneficial for everyone in this situation I suspect. There's a chance that they would be willing to incorporate a current config in their tournaments once they have seen all the incredibly impressive work that you and other members of the community have done on their respective configs.

seems like they have no clue what they are doing, perhaps someone could educate them a little. There's no specified config and no information that is of any real use.

Maybe you have a misconception about what phishing is.

The video has no evidence of phishing. It has a list of email addresses and some other data. You are assuming the methods he used to get that information.
"...yeye, phishing girls emails and shit. But that doesn't matter, we're talking about him hacking at the minute"
case in point. Get your head out of the videogame and get your priorities straight.

As far as the general content of this thread is concerned I couldn't be any less interested. This desperate propaganda machine is amusing and I'm sure people love this kind of drama. Unfortunately for Orrpo and friends nothing can be proven simply by wishing it was true and throwing a bunch of completely worthless clips in people's faces with some annotations that seem like a toddler's scribbles. Insisting that you're the righteous crusaders despite all the evidence pointing to the contrary doesn't really work either. I think it's fairly clear how low these people have sunk in their pursuit of their holy grail, I don't think that anything I say about them or their "evidence" could make them look any worse than they already do. Immoral, Illegal and embarassing.

That however isn't what I'm concerned by and I'd have entirely avoided posting here If it wasn't for the suggestion I've mishandled or misappropriated anyone's personal information. That information was there due to the fact I was an admin of the BIC group's server. I created sourcebans accounts for the people chii wanted to give admin powers to within the group. Hence the passwords and usernames, They later changed the passwords as I suggested that they should after I gave them the details. That information consisted merely of sourcebans passwords and usernames, with an email to tie to the account in some instances so that the user can recieve e-mail notifications or reset a forgotten password without admin assistance.

it's just a bug, usually occurs in ready up but can happen sometimes later in the game. I'm sure someone like Sir knows more about it than I do.. it's certainly not a common bug though and I doubt they did it intentionally.

I have actually suggested something like this for the EU scene about 2 years ago or so, but at the time not everyone liked the idea and we decided that it will be pointless unless every hub joins. Im hoping this will work out for you, but to be honest its doubtful that it will, because sooner or later one of the admins will refuse to ban because the player will be his best friend, girlfriend, boyfriend etc.

The crux of this is that each server group participating in the "alliance" retains the right to autonomous action in regard to each ban. The reciprocation and coordination of the bans is suggested and expected but not enforced. If a particular admin or group doesn't see fit to mirror a certain ban then that is up to them and it won't cause the cooperation to come to an end. I'd be highly surprised if a few bans did not end up being a source of contention amongst the various server admins. It is unrealistic to expect everyone to agree on every issue. That being said, coordinating the punishment for ragequits in, let's say, 80% of cases is a great improvement on the current state - Where players will ragequit from a game knowing that they have 3 other server groups on which they will still be able to play games should they be banned for the ragequit.

It is important to stress that this coordinated effort isn't designed to compromise the integrity of banning procedures in any of the groups involved. Speaking strictly as an admin of hotmess I can say that our procedures in regard to ensuring every ban is substantiated with the necessary tools and methods is not going to change. In addition to that, As there still seems to be some confusion, Bans that will be reciprocated are policy bans only. This greately decreases the possibility of admins disagreeing over whether a ban is legitimate or not. The ban must meet two requirements;

1. The ban can be substantiated with proper evidence
2. The ban is of the correct nature - I.e something pertaining to the policy bans listed below then action will likely be taken.

POLICY BANS - Rules that would ban across all servers: Rage quits, vote kick abuse, team killing/griefing, cheating. If someone breaks these rules, and there is evidence, all servers would ban for the same length of time.

BEHAVIOR BANS - Rules that would be up to the server owner to decide: Insults, being disrespectful, personal attacks. If someone breaks these rules, each server owner could choose whether they want to ban or not.

Nownow, no need to bash the man's head in with your remarks.

I can see why he's worried, heck, you should be worried.
The idea behind it is nice, but everyone here that's been in contact with these filthy European admins knows that they're hard to properly communicate with and that their idea of "fair bans" are very far apart from what most would deem fair bans.

The bans that are being coordinated are purely policy bans, I.e Ragequit - Something with tangible evidence. The bans that people are getting for various petty actions such as "insults" will remain on a server by server basis. The aim is not to throw a blanket ban on a player who has done nothing wrong.

Competition is healthy though. Merging the server owners / groups into one empire seems like an easy way for any of the admins on any of these groups to abuse their position.

This isn't a marketplace, none of you are paying for a product or service, competition isn't healthy in any logical way here. I don't understand how having more critics to answer to in regard to one's adminning decisions is condusive to abuse of admin. You havn't really thought this through at all have you? This is merely to prevent players from raging from a game on one server group then playing games on the other server groups directly afterwards. Players should be held accountable for ruining games for the other participants.

It doesn't matter how many times I've had to listen to the ramblings of hibbles, Each time he's still somehow able to take me by surprise with how painfully stupid he is. Credit to you hib, You never fail to make yourself look like a chimpanzee with a keyboard, incredible consistancy.

OT - The config isn't in a bad state currently, I will stick to what I said before, You havn't fully anticipated the effect of the rock/spitter preventing pickups. That in addition to the rocks on smoked targets and the slight nerf to the uzis is going to have a large impact on reasonably high skill level gameplay. That being said, if your intention was, As i'm inclined to believe, To make the config be more difficult for survivors than Acemod V4 then I suppose that is one way to achieve that.
