Looking & Recruiting / [Looking] Brave Fucking Toaster

Hi. I have random availability, but if I have a scheduled time I will be there. I'm still kind of bad at this game mostly because I give a small amount of fucks, but I enjoy the game and would enjoy being on a team full of nice fun people. I am willing to listen to instruction and try my best to learn and improve. I don't care if I am recruited for a sub or starting position or not at all to be honest.

So, hi.

Oh here's a link

Left 4 Dead 2 / Tournament Map Pool vote....
« on: February 21, 2012, 08:49:24 pm »
Hi, I posted a week or so ago about a new tournament format I wanted to start up. With the help of fig I've kind of come up with an outline. Now I'd like some input from the community before I set it all up :)

Basic Rundown of the format:
The tournament will be FIVE rounds of swiss (every team will be playing all 5 rounds), the way the pairings will be set up is: Round 1 will be  completely random and then every round after that will be set up so you are playing a team with equal record (ie. 1-0 plays 1-0, etc). After the five rounds we will cut to the top 4 (based off overall record, then tie breaks such as teams who they beat's record and so on) who will playoff in a seeded single elimination bracket to determine the overall winner.

What I would like is for all of you who would participate in this tournament to please vote on your choices for what total of 7 maps will be used, choosing from any of the official campaigns and I decided it would be fun to include dark parish in the rotation IF you guys vote it in.

Voting format:
Please rank your top 7 maps you'd like to see in this tournament.  I will then tally the votes as such: 1 = 7 points ... 7 = 1 point. So that the top 7 point receiving maps will be entered in the rotation. If you'd rather not see 7 maps in this tournament please let me know, and I would be willing to listen and make some maps repeat such as the popular Parish or Dark Carnival.

Thanks and I hope to have this all set up in the next couple weeks and sign ups open :)

Left 4 Dead 2 / Random tournament idea.
« on: February 13, 2012, 02:37:02 pm »
I felt bad for piggybacking alexi's post so I made my own. I wanted to propose an idea for a format on a tourney I'd like to a run. If there's enough interest I will gladly set it up :)
I was considering a proposal to organize a tournament myself. Nothing too special in terms of game play or maps. I would just be using Metafogl and a random smattering of maps. The unique idea I wanted to use for my tournament is to run it using DCI Reporter (Tournament software usually used for MTG or other card games) and do a type of swiss pairing then cut to 4 or 8 and then single elimination of those top 4 or 8.
Basically it would be similar to league format, but there would be probably 4-5 rounds.
First round would be random pairings and then each round after that would be paired based on a team's record. I.e. 1-0 teams would play 1-0 teams and so on throughout the tournament.
This would give teams equal opportunity to play a decent amount of matches. After the 4-5 rounds of swiss we would then take the top 4 or 8 teams (depend on number of teams entering) based on their win percentage, then strength of schedule (the better the teams you beat or lost to, the better your strength of schedule)  if there are ties.
The top 4-8 would then be seeded based on their records during swiss and playoff in a single elimination format to determine a winner.

I think this format works very well for card games and would actually work pretty well for this game or any video game as well. If people really like the idea, I'd really like to put it into works. And would welcome any feedback or help in terms of setting up rules and map order or anything else  Please let me know.

Also add me if you would like to discuss this in detail privately or would like to help me run this  I already have the DCI software to input teams, make pairings, etc.
