1) Start up l4d2, and try to play your demo. Go into your console and type "Playdemo Name" It should freeze for a second, press the console button again and click around until your menu returns. Your console should now say something along the lines of: ERROR: demo network protocol 2004 outdated, engine version is 2007 - You will need to remember this info Failed to read demo header.

2) Now, close the game, and go to your Left4Dead 2 folder: X:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2 and find a file named steam.ini and open it with notepad: PatchVersion= ProductName=left4dead2 appID=550 You need to change the patch number with the version number of the demo you're trying to play (from your console): ERROR: demo network protocol 2004 outdated, engine version is 2007 Failed to read demo header. PatchVersion=

Save your changes, start up Left4Dead2 and again, play your demo with "Playdemo Name" and it should now work fine. REMEMBER: Change the steam.ini file back to it's original or you might experience problems. Might need to download l4d2 again depending on how long your games been installed for.

//copy pasta but it has worked for me in the past. Id suggest making a backup of the steam.ini and just overwriting it when you're done.

What about for each week along with each map set, tank and witch percentages were also set? So teams can practice for a few days with a guaranteed spawn set. Might be easy mode but might also allow for allot higher standard of play..

You are the genuine article if you think these sub-machine guns are fair in their current state. Top teams have hitherto succeeded running 3/1 setup for years, NV should be the best example of this- If you want to buff the SMG and UZI because they aren't viable in PUGS due to the autistic nature of team cohesion in that setting, then you are a retard. Get a team, play conservatively with a high level of accuracy and cohesion and come back and tell me how bad they are after you've beaten 95% of teams at high ping. I used to get 2nd frag every cancerous pug I played at 150 ms but after this update getting double top frag is a cake walk, and I'm a terrible aimer at best. These need balancing imo without a single doubt in my mind.

> 'back to promod' go develop it then you autist? No one plays PM anymore for a reason.
> 'Shotguns are unbalanced' - In a game where the enemy has to literally throw itself at you, which weapons going to be more successful, a high damage one shooting weapon which relies on close distance to be successful or a drag shooting medium distance spray weapon? Seems like pretty simple logic to me. And for the argument "oh but so and so beats me on mvp every pug I play because he uses the unfair shotgun lalalala etc" Yeah because these idiots play the pug to get MVP every single round and don't give two shits if they take 70 damage on the first hit as long as they get that hunter skeet. Maybe play to win and not to lengthen your e-pen at the end of each round heh? Seems like an un-american thing to do but you'll manage, champ.

I heard only pros use controllers for tanks

Secondly, why is no one talking about Dark Carnival 3 and the event tank? Having an event tank on this map, forces teams to fight 300 common, after coming through the tunnel of love, which btw, is a great place for devestating attacks. So even if you made it with 4 green hp, you're still forced to fight 300 commons, with around 5-7 attacks, maybe even more, in areas that aren't super cheesy for the survivors. So that said, the imbalance between this map and the other maps is very noticable and should be taken into account.

Couldn't agree more to be honest. I have never survived camping the horde before taking the tank nor have I survived just running into the tank with the horde. I remember a while back the argument for unlocking this event tank was to expand the number of tanks that could be played on that map- This is a good idea. Except as you said it definitely needs a balance- Im going to be that guy and suggest just pausing the horde while tanks are up... This would solve the parish tank issue as well. I feel there is many tanks that need to be balanced in some way but its pretty much pointless trying to suggest changes that aren't currently being discussed. But certainly I do agree that the roller coaster tank is next to impossible to survive in its current state.

It just seems like, hey some people should learn to code source pawn if they are so ardent with their unpopular esoteric ideas lol?

wouldn't the most clearly logical solution be to just remove horde once the tank spawns and then continue it on if the tank is killed? lol

-Keep the door opening so players can run back and
-Keep the prop blocking so that it lasts forever... Meaning that the supposed event tank can't be spawned and run back to the field and possibly ai'd...
-plus if theres no tank on the event its fairly impractical for 99% of teams to go that far back (beyond the alley), if back at all. The only team I've seen successfully run back and kill the entire horde + the 4-5 si attacks while actually taking less damage than running forward like previous meta was Serenity, which is essentially the best team in the world at the moment.

I find it funny that people want jump rocks removed because it's an exploit but don't want M1+M2 animation canceling for the shotgun removed even though it's also an exploit.

wtf? Change something because it warrants a cause of change, don't change something if doesn't warrant that cause. Removing jump rocks because they're easy to script and 'unbalanced' is fair if the purpose is to balance the meta, any other changes like the completely irrelevant one you mentioned that doesn't serve the cause of achieving this balance is counter intuitive.. like really? yams has it on point here. You're argument is complete garbage...

Never saw curverocking as an exploit. Unlike jumprocks, it's not a static thing that you can just script and bind to a button. There is a lot more to it: angles, latency, survivor position, sensitiviity, direction etc. Trying to script curverocks is infinitely harder than scripting jumprocks, so there's no reason to block it. Besides, it's harder to pull off and looks cool, and is generally a good indicator of tank skill(unlike jumprocking).

Dont forget its also fundamental for some tanks to stop survivors from pushing into it and murdering it..
