It's time once again.
« on: May 28, 2014, 03:24:03 am »
June 2014 brings the most popular sporting event ever..... The World Cup

Anyone fancy a prediction of their home country and also the overall winner?

Going to be a tough call. With Argentina having the likes of Aguero and the infamous Lionel Messi they are always going to be a threat.
Brazil a favourite as always with being on home turf.
With the heat i'd think a few of the European team might struggle.

My team : England I fear will have a tough time like they did in USA 94' due to struggling with the heat.

I predict my team England to go out in the quarter finals

Overall winner I will predict Brazil with their home advantage.

England will be lucky to make it out of the group stage, either way reguardless of flawless groupstage victory or utter balls crunching defeat us poor bastards here in the UK will never hear the end of it, s'only been about 50odd years since England actually won the cup and youd swear that happened only last year.

At 90quid for a shirt and the hell its going to cause to the jeremy kyle schedule on ITV...fuck football

I personally think the two teams with the best chances to win are Germany/Portugal (whoever comes in 2nd during the group stage has the easier route). I think the same could be said for Mexico/Brazil.

A lot of people are predicting the homers to win, but in the studies that I've seen regarding "home field/site/pitch" advantage, it is marginally beneficial at best. However, Brazil is ranked #4 by points going into this tournament.

The Top 20 are as follows:
1. Spain / 2. Germany / 3. Portugal / 4. Brazil / 5. Colombia
6. Uruguay / 7. Argentina / 8. Switzerland / 9. Italy / 10. Greece
11. England / 12. Belgium / 13. Chile / 14. USA / 15. Netherlands
16. France / 17. Ukraine / 18. Russia / 19. Mexico / 20. Croatia

While USA sure has a long road ahead of it in the "Group of Death", if they make it out of the group stage in 2nd place, they MAY have a shot, until they reach Spain, Argentina, or Mexico (who we always perform poorly against like Ghana).

Time for a pint. Cheers mates.

I'm quite certain that if anything, the holding pens for that show will be overflowing by the time the World Cup starts, to the point where every sodding town in England has its Jeremy Kyle moments out on the streets each night. But yeah, slim chance of that in Neath...

As for the football, well it tends to follow a script of sorts: People get hyper and raise their expectations too highly, expect England to achieve an unrealistic victory based on way too many factors to even bother describing in detail. Fast forward a few weeks later, the nation still tastes disappointment, more than enough alcohol to flood the Isles and a surge in cardiac arrests over a somewhat predictable result.

But fear not, Battle. Your Jeremy Kyle viewing will resume schedule soon enough!

Yeh he's talking about penalty shootouts there.
Doesnt take a genius to work out we are shit at them. In fact. England have the record for the worst international penalty taking team.

My team : England I fear will have a tough time like they did in USA 94' due to struggling with the heat.

I predict my team England to go out in the quarter finals

Overall winner I will predict Brazil with their home advantage.

Now that both are out, Brazil was weak as shit, the U.S. was strong (although Michael Bradley is complete garbage), and Germany was as tough as expected. England, Spain, and Portugal let down a lot of people. The Netherlands and Belgium shocked many. All in all, it has been a fantastic tournament in my opinion.
