I guess some ESL admin grabbed L4D2 on a free weekend and thought about hosting some cups there, that's a really big surprise but a big chance!

1. What config is it?
2. I wish non-EU teams would be allowed, and I'm not even asking for home/away.

seems like they have no clue what they are doing, perhaps someone could educate them a little. There's no specified config and no information that is of any real use.

i dont think we should bombard them. we should probably just send one person, someone that can properly articulate everything they need to know.

Realistically, what can you expect though?
"We" have modified the game so hard without ESL being around in L4D2 that it's hard to get into as new admin.

Yes you're completely right and I do understand that - I don't blame the admin(s) responsible for hosting these tournaments. Some guidance or information from someone within the competitive community would be beneficial for everyone in this situation I suspect. There's a chance that they would be willing to incorporate a current config in their tournaments once they have seen all the incredibly impressive work that you and other members of the community have done on their respective configs.

The ESL admin is called Solo and it seems like he is from Russia, maybe a russian with all the latest config and tournament knowledge can have a chat with him on the ESL Discord but then again he is an admin for an EU ESL Cup he should be able to talk in english.

A vanilla tournament wouldn't be too bad, it would mean a lot more participants would possibly apply. It would be nice if the people who are in the community can invite the other people to a more "competitive" version l4d2 has to offer.

Hey guys,

two years ago I've tried to run a L4D2 tournament via esl community page.
I talked to 3 former L4D2 admins back then and they all told me, that they won't waste any time with this game anymore.

Now there's an ESL admin trying to check out if there's still any activity in this game. Which is something good I guess.

Just an update for you guys:

- The config of choice for upcoming Tournaments has become ZoneMod (Players can play Vanilla if both teams agree)
- Matches will always be played on EU Servers (No Home/Away) unless both Teams are from NA, then a balanced NA server is used.
- US and Canadian teams are now allowed to participate in the European tournaments and no longer require the majority of the team to be European.
- If you are playing from a country not listed below, then the >50% EU rule still applies to you:
ad, al, am, at, az, ba, be, bg, by, ca, ch, cy, cz, de, dk, ee, es, fi, fo, fr, ge, gi, gr, hr, hu, ie, is, it, kg, kz, li, lt, lu, lv, mc, md, me, mk, mt, nl, no, pl, pt, ro, rs, ru, se, si, sk, sm, tj, tm, tr, ua, uk, us, uz, va, xk
