I'm having this bizarre connection problem.
« on: January 22, 2018, 07:43:14 am »
When I complete a campaign online, I start being unable to join anything else. All attempts to do so are met with "Connection failed after 10 retries". Even exiting and rerunning the game doesn't change a thing. The only thing resembling a solution was a bandaid, the commonly suggested "+clientport" in the launch options, but it only solves my issue until I complete another online campaign.

Please, this game is like a safe space for me (I'm badly depressed, it's a long story) and this problem is a crushing disappointment for me, after I've managed to solve most crashing issues I had with my many, many mods (I'm talking 200 or so non-map mods).

The console doesn't give a single error message. Example:

Connecting to public(66.150.121.16:27015)
Sending UDP connect to public IP 66.150.121.16:27015
Retrying public(66.150.121.16:27015)

I've tried everything that could be tangentially related to the problem. Router firewall, Windows firewall, even a Steam name change. It has befuddled the L4D2 Steam so badly nobody responded in 24 hours.
