L4D Still Alive Tournament Overview
« on: September 16, 2012, 12:24:07 pm »
We are glad to announce "Still Alive" Left 4 Dead 1 Tournament. We feel the game and the community has suffered from lack of well organized tournaments, and more importantly the lack of prizes which bring both players and viewers together for a great competitive gaming experience.

The tournament will be held in Europe, but North-American teams are welcome to join, as long as they feel comfortable playing on European servers. We will provide a list of official tournament servers.

The Prizes

The tournament will have a prize fund of 2000€, which will be divided between the winners as follows:

1st Place: 1600€
2nd Place: 300€
3rd Place: 100€

Tournament Layout

Single Elimination

The tournament sign-ups will be open for approximately two weeks, after which the tournament will start. We have no limits on available slots: we will accept all teams who want to join, even if they have no previous experience in online competitive gaming. There is no set match dates, you are free to schedule your match with your opponent.

Tournament Config

A new, specially version of Hardcore-Rotoblin will be used. The main difference with the current Hardcore-Rotoblin being:

- No Deadstops

Receiving Your Prizes

You must have a Paypal account to receive the rewards. We will ask you for your Paypal email address and send you the prizes that way. You may receive a little less than your prize earned, as Paypal charges a small fee for sending money.

Behavior

With our tournament we want to bring new teams into competitive Left 4 Dead 1. It is a great game and for the most part, it has a great community. Our tournament will not allow trolling and disrespectful attitude towards other players, especially if they might not be as experienced as some of the "oldies".

Contact

If you have any questions about our tournament, or if you have serious problems registering a user or a team at our website join our steam group and enter our group chat: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/stillalivel4dcup

We hope this will be the best Left 4 Dead 1 related tournament ever, and with your help I’m sure we can make it happen!

Maybe people won't forfeit and free win every match when there's more than $520 in the prize pool.
what? of course they will. you are hosting a tournament in LEFT 4 DEAD and this surprised you? every single l4d(2) event has been plagued with FF's. as far as im concerned you are as big, if not a bigger fraud than that iD Salo guy. not sure what's worse, lying about sponsors or changing your mind about prize money promised from day 1 of the tournament. if i were you i wouldnt even show up here, you just deleted all traces of the tournament on the site without offering any explanation to the teams who were actually competing for the money you promised. why you promised your scholarship money or w/e is beyond me but you don't do what you did. i doubt fig was happy to pay off the AST tournament with how it ended but he did it anyway.

The concern with the community is appreciated by all of us I'm sure.

Jacob and I are putting together a L4D2 Tournament soon (we've been working on it for almost a month, it's going to be a bit different, hopefully in a stimulating way... and if you read my previous thread on it, you know what i'm talking about).   We are trying to keep it on the downlow and hold off on announcing it because having too many overlapping tournaments is just... annoying? o.o  ... EFPS3 is still in it's earlier rounds and we don't want to take the attention off of that or vice versa (have our attention taken away).

So... to those of you who don't like the idea of a L4D european based tourny atm, you will have multiple options soon.

For now, lets all enjoy the efps3 tourny :3

Just thinking out loud a little i suppose.  By all means, sign up for Still Alive. :x
