Hackers & Cheaters / Re: Kep and Nate

The official decision from the FIWDIL video was that nate was DQ'd because he was wasting admin time by doing these "spasms" to troll. If you go shot by shot, it's obvious that the nate videos were not nospread.

Here's my kepler vid from the one demo I was sent.
Kepler evidence

I bet if someone told antero that l4dnation was back up and that kepler called him out here he'd come post his evidence.

Nate never had any super damning videos. He's just a troll mostly.

I can link 1 kepler video, but the rest were private vids from antero. The really damning evidence against him was the profiles he has on cheating sites.

Apparently Battle can't tell the difference between deagles and hunting rifles. Better remove them from equilibrium.

In metafogl there are no cans.
Good point, they should port that to a scavenge config.

I think trying to label it as an "exploit" is the wrong way to look at it.

I'm going to assume that the overall question you're trying to answer is "should this be allowed in matches/competitive play?"

For that you have to take a number of things into consideration:

Is it considered a skillful move in competitive play?
Does it add or remove strategy from the game?
Is it something spectators enjoy seeing or do not enjoy seeing?
Do players overall find it to be a "fun" game mechanic?
Can you stop people from using it with a rule? Or do you need some sort of coded block?

We hardly ever see in versus play, so I can't really answer this...

...But who am I to refuse a chance to express a solicited opinion?

When I do see the can trick, I sort o feel like it degrades competitive play. Sure, it takes a certain amount of time to learn, but from what I've seen it doesn't seem to take much skill to pull off. It adds an element of strategy to infected play (Don't send the smoker after the guy with cans!) but simplifies survivor strategy (every non-smoker capper can be solo'd without ranged weapons). I don't think most people enjoy watching SI get completely shut down, and I've never found it fun myself.

I don't know if this can be removed with a config, but there are a bunch of different smoker tongue cvars to mess around with which might nullify the effect of the cans. For example, you might be able to increase the tongue pull speed, so that the full "tongue latch" has completed before the can blocks LoS.

Someone PM'd me the competitive player list from last time. So if someone wants to make a thread about that go ahead:

Hence the "and other configs" part :P

Same as any form of griefing... You deny people enjoyment.

Moving this thread to configs now that I've mad that subforum :P

Hopefully this time we can do it right!

We'll be working hard over the next few days to get settings, moderators, admins, and modifications set up. Please be patient if the site isn't working properly.

If you can think of any boards that need creating, think that you need admin/mod status, or want to help out in some other way (banner/layout?), please don't hesitate to contact either me or BRB Bowflexin` through these forums or steam.

Thanks so much and have a good time!
