Just to chime in, discrediting someones idea just because you haven't heard of them because they aren't from the US doesn't really equate to much. Visor was one of the main proponents behind removing backjumps- So saying that only obscure pseudonyms supported the change is really just shortsighted on your behalf. Not to mention several other well-recognised members supporting the change, read the threads lol

Great tournament! Pubstar wanted the victory more and seemed way more prepared, I think they practiced more. Well deserved. Don't see tanks like that get killed that quickly very often!

Mr List coming at you with a list:

tourney mvp: DustY
Unluckiest player: Bryan
Most improved: Fanclub
Best Moment/match: G2 vs Vatican was fucking hilarious plus that finale
Worst moment: Vatican getting wiped because of helicopter car

can Sir start posting big updates to the l4dnation home page so that more communities start to pick this up, server owners aren't even aware of its existence in some parts yet...

I really don't think making a config for l4d2 is a binary kind of solution. The problem is way more complex than just "this is the solution to the imbalance of the game". You can only really succeed in producing degrees of balance in respects to 'solving' the issue of balance. You can't really compare two configs like acemod and grizz's theoretical config because the criteria for the 'best' config is basically a subjective thing when you get down to the specifics. I think acemod is the closest we've ever come to a perfect config because it not only addresses game meta but it also took care of so many long standing nuances that hindered the fluidity of game play.

Although I still think that there is inherent issues with map design which completely hinder balance in ways that configs can't really address without using poor half measures like props and brushes. There is no solution and no ones going to make one at this stage..

Fuck this is men worthy

Unless you have copied and pasted a majority of this it appears you are capable of using proper, understandable english. Why not do so and drop the sub-retarded lingo that you use in 100% of your posts.

Side notes:

> Why bother trying to organise a community that is difficult for even the most experienced and respected tournament admins- 2 of the largest tournaments in the last year or so have been cancelled before the finals despite a rigorous and professional approach taken by the admins. Surely using exe dee unironically must go to show your lack of understanding of the difficulty and effort it takes to run a successful tourney.

> Using a different site to organise= is this a troll post?

> There is likely to be no server admins who could care about this.

> There is no more config developers who could care to modify acemod be there a serious need for meta change.

> Less importantly does anyone with the ability to stream even give a fuck anymore about these matches? Its like playing a pug where the winner gets some imaginary prize, 'woo go us we won a tourney with 4 teams in it exxx deee'

(sorry for 4chong arrows but u get the point)

Im going to be the devils advocate here and say that generally you're a fucking idiot if you let your real identity get spread around the internet- its not that hard to keep your vidya gaem playing and your real life separate especially in this cancerous community were every second player can dox/dos you. Keep your Opsec tight and you won't get    t r i g g e r e d    by some disgusting internet troll who sneakily gets your private info and 'more'...

but it doesn't change the fact that this guy is 2 feet below a cunt lmaooo

Next tourney streamers should collect some data from the group stage matches so they can talk about each team/player a little more in-depth before the more important game. It'd also be awesome if we could see some mumble interviews with teams/players after or before matches just to add that extra level to the streams. Just a pleb-tier suggestion..

Perhaps I did word it wrong Visor- TL:DR more coherently would be: If the community really is coming close to death, how can we, and what will we do to keep it interesting so this doesn't happen? The random shit I suggested is just rambling shit about maybe how we could move forward but as you said they're will always just be 'dreams'... So in retrospect the post was more leaning towards posing a question toward community leaders, developers and tournament organizers. Which is stated in the latter of this reply.

Sir i couldn't agree more, there is a pointless number of servers- I just cannot see why there are not more people playing on them. There has got to be easily up to 10k people who do play and have played public versus games for more than 3k hours each... How the fuck do these guys not see the superiority of playing in confogl? The ease? The excitement? I don't man it just seems like 'competitive' L4d has always been half botched in respects to publicity and player inflow so to speak.

Confogl & Miscellaneous / The Future of Confogl?
« on: August 07, 2016, 03:55:15 am »
Now with the BOT coming to an end, it has been highly speculated that the community will take an all time low of activity. Which begs the question, what does the future hold for the community? Will there be anymore major tournaments? Something I think which should be asked is if there really is any need for a new config coming into 2017 (A new config or community developer/leader may bring about more activity and tournament interest) Realistically when you ask the question of tournaments and activeness it is not necessarily just a case of saying "oh who cares the game is 6 years old blah blah blah", its about keeping confogl/competitive fresh and interesting because obviously after such a long and enduring passion for the game many of us don't want to quit because we simply do not enjoy the barebones 'shooter' aspect of CS:GO and neither do we enjoy the confusing, third person aspect of League and DOTA. So in the end its not about bringing more players into the community because that is simply down to things out of our control, instead it is about keeping confogl and all aspects of it exciting and playable- Which is something we need to address (or not if you really don't care).

I have little SourcePawn knowledge so I am only one to speculate certain changes to do this, I think the christmas light easter egg that was in promod was a step in the right direction (while obviously only being situational but you get the drift) Keeping confogl fresh also doesn't mean making the configs like dlr, it simply means that the configs should represent the most fair and reasonable aspects of L4D versus but also be fun, skillful and always giving players that feeling of "wow I did xxxxx that was cool"

In terms of tournaments I also have no idea because I've never organized one but I've always hoped that someone would try and reach out to some big/small companies for sponsorship. Plus Watchl4d really put down a great platform to bring about that broadcasted, 'global' sense to the community much like other competitive games which get streamed regularly. I would love to see an all round integration between the forums and a streaming platform, possibly going even further to include front page news articles, analysis etc. There definitely is a certain stigma behind tournaments which really holds back the community- Players should be encouraged to organize tournaments and start teams instead of being told that they aren't 'respected' enough or whatever.

Servers- This topic is eternally revolving around one fact, that servers have to be payed for. Much like some delusional communist it would be glorious to see a truly global server network integrated into the aforementioned website system... Obviously paying for probably well over 50-80 servers to create this utopian dream is completely out of the question, perhaps however if many different server owners could be united under the one organization with some incentives (no idea in hell what they would be) it might be achieved. I think an enormous amount of servers are be wasted on the daily, some networks I haven't seen being played on in well over a week at times... If we were to unify the popular networks maybe some platform could be put in place to actually get that extra level of integration. However as mentioned, everything like this obviously costs a lot of time, money and resources to pull off so its almost irrelevant.

Thus concludes my sentiment on the future of the community. Maybe we'll get l4d3 and be done with it, or as many people believe we will be stuck with l4d2 forever. Thus its important to ask what the future has instore for our favorite competitive game.

Dark Parish is a terrible pick for the finals, go watch the eq cup 2 or 3 finals and tell me that the most anticipated match was good on dark parish. Terrible for the viewers imo.
