Enjoying the casts so far, so well done guys.

I have the twitch app for the tablet but it only allows you to watch LIVE events. You cant watch past broadcasts.

Seeing as you cant load twitch streams in the browser on a tablet either im asking if theres any way I can watch past twitch broadcasts on Android?

Streaming & Casting / Steam BETA broadcasting
« on: December 02, 2014, 06:13:07 pm »
Anyone had much chance to play with the new Steam broadcasting/streaming feature.

I did. It completely wrecked my fps when one person started viewing. Hoping after my upgrade this should sort it.
Anyone else get huge fps drops?

I think Steam broadcasting is a great idea though. You can set it to friends or just anyone. Plus you see what the player sees so no more hacking ;))))

Here's my prediction for the knockout stages:

Im going for one or two shock results which will see LSD lose to Non-Stop. This probably shouldnt happen but there you go.

Id love to see team France Vs Nv- again in the final but I think they'll et edged out just.

I changed it slightly from this

From those scores it looks like it could have been a blast of a game.

Any VOD or demo anywhere ?

Being a newb I dipped my toe back into a Euro Sirplease server for the first time in months. Usually im kicking around the pub servers.

I never get choke and/or packet loss, but during my visit to the Sirplease server I got constant rubberbanding the entire game.

Ping was about 30 the whole time. Choke was usually about 25-30 and packet loss varied from 0 - 50 but mainly around 15-20.

Went into a pub game straight after and no packet loss and choke down to about 5 avg. I then did a to various Euro servers which brought back A++ results, zero jitter and zero packet loss.

Rates! ofc, its my rates i'm thinking. I was running 30000 /30 / 30. I did try knocking it down a touch but not really affecting much.

On the netgraph the spikes are often very high regardless of pub or confogl servers, but the highest spike is nearly always the sound.
Should this be the case? (with the sound being the highest spike all the time).

I changed my sound quality to medium from high and last night I joined a mix which played out okay. Choke was usually around 2

General / Google apparently is not my friend
« on: July 25, 2013, 03:32:05 pm »
So an error that haunts me from time to time and after searching for hours, google doesnt really provide an answer.

Whether its public servers or community ones it makes no difference for this error.

Sometimes I will try to connect to a lobby or a game in progress and the game will crash to desktop without any error.
If i then restart the game and try to reconnect to my friends it will crash to desktop again.

No matter which way I join, it will then crash to the desktop whenever I join.
If they move to a new server it will often still crash to desktop upon joining.
I the meantime I can join any other server I want to and play no problem.

If my friend moves to another random game, say on a public server and I try to join them, it will most likely crash to desktop again.

When coming back the following evening, everything works as normal.

Just tonight I got invited to a game on Sirplease#6
It crashed to desktop on joining (I get the loading screen before entering into the map) and crashed before the loading bar got to 100%

He tryed inviting me, crashed.
Turned all addons off, still crashed
Changed server, still crashed on joining.

Any ideas? Cheers

General / Moved my Steam folder but only one game found???
« on: June 08, 2013, 09:14:34 am »
I moved my steam folder to another Hard drive.

I followed Steam's official instructions.

When running Steam after the move, no problems. L4D2 runs fine.

However EVERY sinlge one of my other games are physically there in the steamapps folder. But in the Steam library it says they all need installing as they are not on the disk.

The Veryify game cache is disabled because Steam thinks I have no game installed.

Any ideas? JUst thought it was strange that L4D was the onyl game that succesfully transferred across

When public games go horribly wrong - L4D2

General / Casting during the CCT
« on: May 20, 2013, 03:17:27 pm »
A brief discussion caught my attention over on the cct2 thread earlier about ""good game, bad casting""

From a neutral point of view.....

I've enjoyed most the casts (and I've watched most of them) and thanks for putting on a show. When i say that I mean all the competitors and not just the organizers. In fact I've watched a lot of competitive matches since the fragpipe days really.

I don't mind too much how its casted if its some mickey mouse cup or some casual small-time thing.

Where sponsors are mentioned or it's one of the more major tournaments I think i like a little professionalism.
Even if L4d doesn't attract Starcraft2-like audiences I'd still like to believe we could show sponsors or the community an organised, professional feed to the audience.

Here are some things i noticed. Flame me as much as you like regarding these as i'm used to being shouted at anyway.

  • Heard people yawning on live cast. I know it's the dead of night for some casters but try to suck it up :)
  • I've heard many blank responses to questions between casters as they randomly go afk (crashes I obviously accept). But even in the chat you see messages between casters saying "are you dead?" haha
  • I've seen from a broadcast point of view, points in the game where the streamer is looking at a nice piece of floor while a tank or SI attack is going in just off camera.
  • Swearing. Yeah the game is over18 (i think!) rated. I actually think it's fine when used comically (I like stand up comedy after all). But I heard some casters using it between them as if they were in the British Jobcentre.
  • Gibberish. So long as it doesnt waffle on and on is ok to me.
But sometimes I get the feeling some casters forget they are live on air when they are discussing the contents of their fridge.
I know that we will never TRUELY know if the lightbulb really DOES go out when we shut the fridge door. But lets save it for pauses in the game eh?
  • Assign roles. Only sometimes.....But some casters fight over air time. Set out a main caster and 1 or 2 support casters. Support speaks when there are gaps or are providing info the main caster missed.
  • Broadcasting. In between spawns while the survivors are rushing i've almost gotten dizzy watching while the streamer spins from one rooftop to another. This hasnt happened too often to be fair. I think the streamer does it without noticing tbh
NikeOn provides a good cast in my opinion. He knows the game mechanics well and strats well. He appears to have a good pedigree of knowledge.
Some of the American casters are a pleasure to listen to as they seem to have a knack of being able to keep the flow going.

From old times I enjoyed the combination of Dragon and Venson together. Even shairi paired with Dragon was a good combo.
Perhaps only the Euro's among us may remember their old casts during Fragpipe.

Merely observations
