Hey whatsup l4dnation and hello my fellow l4d2 gamers. I've been thinking about l4d2 recently, just essentially feeling inspired. I noticed how dead it has gotten since Rail's departure, there just hasn't been any tournaments and I can't think of any other word to describe the l4d2 competitive state right now other than (banal).

I mean, it's the same maps over and over being played on the same cfg, it's just a bit flat for my taste and I hope you share the same views as I do on the matter;). So I've just been trying to think and get creative with it to the best I can. It is kind of tough but if I can get some accommodations with some of the ideas I've come up with, maybe then we'll spark something new and cool, and exciting *crosses fingers*.

I'll try to be as clear as I possibly can and just lay out the goals in order of 1,2,3,4.... etc...

1. It'll be a double elimination tournament having 12-24 teams

2. The mandatory played configs will be Confogl,Promod,Zonemod, EQ preferrably but if it's not available acemod, Apex/retro. They will be selected 1 for each week of the tournament; unless being a finals/grandfinals match

3. this is where the line of what "skill" is becomes blurred, the goal is for teams to adapt and be forced to think instead of going through repetition and having the ability of easy prediction. - There will be a list of 3 campaigns to pick from (Selected by the admins for the week) of which both teams must agree to play on one of the three for their cup match, if they can't agree the admin will force select the map.

4. This will be an international cup, so there will be one away and one home server, very standard rules for a cupmatch; I'm counting on most people that read this post will have experience with this type of thing.

5. I just want to say thank you to the admins who have served this community, who are still serving and have been for a long time. I don't have any experience running a tournament, please if you could help me or give me some pointers on how to run one I'd be very grateful as this will be my first, I do confess my ignorance in this area and I do very much need guidance. Sir, Fig, Prodigysim others who might also have some helpful criticism or can help point me in the right direction I'd very much appreciate it. Again, thank you all so much in advance your service is most laudable.

From,
Big Bear.

P.S. I have no idea how I'm going to be able to do this without Rails, he was a great caster. We have no hype for our tournament viewers.

I also need Sir to work with me since he owns most of the servers people play on, and he doesn't have the cfgs installed to them. So without those 2 this is going to be really rough, I can tell already.

The latest configs have tons of quality of life improvements compared to older configs (look at the long list of bug / exploit fixes in zonemod's github page ).

We can play older configs but keep in mind that they will potentially need some tweaking to be in line with today's version of the game and expectations of quality.

It'd be fun to see a lot of custom maps to spice things up if nothing else.

I hope to see the tournament come to light and succeed.

Ayy sounds interesting. I plan on updating some of the older configs (Promod, EQ, etc) to have them added to Sir Please so I think you should be good to go with having different configs.

This is just incase I've forgotten to post the link to the D2F group on the forums, this is our first tournament but there could potentially be more after. Thanks for your interest and viewings and support for our tournament, we very much appreciate the feedback and views that we do get for our tournament matches that are streamed, we've been averaging about 90-180 views per cup match, thanks again to everyone out there.
