Af-1 and myself have recently updated the eFPS rules. There have been some MAJOR changes so please take notice.


Regarding game modifications...


The following game modifications are ILLEGAL:



Regarding ringers and smurfs...



Regarding demos and screenshots...



The following players are banned...

And that's it. I understand there will be some uproar regarding the very strict game file modification rules, and I'm sorry. I understand it might be a hassle to revert a player, hud, skybox, or weapon skin. But make no mistake... any failure to do this and you will have to replay the match.

We are implementing this for a few reasons:

1. We want to set a standard that all competitive players will follow (in matches)
2. No player should have, even a minute advantage, over another player due to game file modifications
2. Any "Hack toggling" will be much more challenging without the addon toggler in some HUD's

Instead of taking away custom huds from players, you should just make everyone play with a program called xray.

Used to be the standard for CSS matches. It takes a screenshot by itself at random times and all of them get uploaded automatically to the users xray profile. None of the screenshots can be deleted.

Edit: after searching for their website, it appears that this service / program no longer exists

While I won't be competing in this tournament (No Team). I understand the reasoning behind these strict rules. Although, I'd dearly miss my HUD and M+ skins. It just goes to show how much Valve could've improved upon this game by adding simple things like a team health counter...

EDIT: I take it custom radial menus are out of the question too?

No, sorry. We are not looking to make players download and run an extra program.

I really appreciate what you're doing Fever, and I trust your judgment, and I'll respect and abide by whatever rules you decide on. But I have to say that I think the "no HUDs" rule is taking the puritanical approach to an unreasonable extreme. Radials too. I have to find six more binds for !ready !unready !tank !pause !unpause "jointeam survivor" "jointeam infected" and so on now that used to be occupied by a single bind. There's no way to cheat with a hud or a radial menu, unless you think minor convenience of hitting one key instead of typing commands or accidentally pausing when I meant to hit my tank bind is cheating, or subjectively pleasing aesthetics instead of ugly aesthetics is cheating. Zeon's huds are available on his website. My hud is free to all to download it (http://www.mediafire.com/?xmq1ul41z3qiuve), use it, or adapt it. A few people have already copied bits into their own personalized huds.

Obviously you don't have to convince me or anyone else and we were uncompromising with our rules too, regardless of any disagreements about it. But I think I owe you the feedback. It will just be just a little bit less fun to play because of that rule.

Sorry to hear that. And there are* ways to cheat using a hud. Not to mention it can give players an advantage over those who don't have them (no matter how insignificant). As for radials, I am not going to draw a line like: "this is ok, this is ok, this is ok, this is not." I figure it's either all or nothing. As for your binds, you can always type them! I have been doing that for the past 3 years. The "m" key works to change teams.

Did RD admit to mat hacking or skins?

KEIS was banned for suspicion of mathacks when he wouldn't provide a screenshot and was later unbanned, is he to be excluded as well?  I don't necessarily think he should be.

What is the line?  What does it take?

Rd posted saying he was looking for a team and cheesy looked at his screenshots and saw he had red si. he tried to delete the screenshots yet cheesy had already uploaded them. Then rd said it was  his laptop and apparently his laptop had a weird resolution that gave him red hunters.

if youre going to disallow people that have used SKINS!! in the past in scrims or whatever half the people registered should be disqualified.

This is a very interested question.

We were faced with a couple of choices. We could ban every player that was, at one time, known to use si skins. We could ban recent players that were known to use si skins. We could ban all those suspected of using si skins (like keis). Or, we could ban those who were confirmed mat hackers (As in removed materials from the game).

We decided to go with the last option for various reasons. The first option would eliminate too many players from the tournament. For the second option, were would we draw the line? What date/tournament/etc. would be the cutoff point? We felt we couldn't make that call. The third option would be nice... we would ban Duma, Asian, Oh Zy, Keis, Rekstar, lust etc. But how could I justify banning them without banning older members of the community that we know used SI skins? I couldn't.

So we went with the final option; we banned those who were caught using mathacks (removing textures from the game vs replacing them).

EDIT: not sure if street would qualify as a mat hacker or si skin changer. But it is sooo recent and he annoyed everyone by denying it.

you mean the ol 'deny it till proven false, then promise to never do it again' approach?  yeah works wonders for everyone's tolerance. 

As far as RD is concerned, I believe he was finally allowed back into LTD after a time, dunno conditions.  Far as I know he hasn't sought to be on a team, just pugs.

a few things you should look into immediately are scheduling, deadlines and scheduling deadlines. the only thing in the rules is

it might sound like a lot of work but in reality it lets you know what team is actually trying to get the match played and what team is being unreasonable. having both teams not move on is silly imo.

why don't use addons disabler plugin so we don't have to deal with silly issues like mathacks. time and again there is a solution to this but organizers just refuse to implement it.

Add-on disabler doesn't prevent mathacks since custom servers can't use sv_pure. Thus, people can just modify their game-files if they want to bypass add-on disabler.

addons disabler works. it does not rely on sv_pure but uses sv_consistency. sv_pure is not working so there is the need for addons disabler.

addons disabler is using addons_eclipse_content set to 1 so it will not load any addons that you have. sv_consistency does the job of making sure game files are not modified
