2v2 Spring Tournament?
« on: February 07, 2013, 01:04:11 am »
Thinking about running a 2v2 tournament for spring, more teams, plus I don't see much 2v2 being played in l4d2.

Thoughts?

Also, somone from HCP resubmit that final match with the real screenshot.  ;)

I don't think the last 2v2 tourney caught much fire, but I love 2v2 and I would love to see a tourney for it.

Code your own website, gl hf.

All other posts concerning format will be ignored. Single elim system works because people actually play. The end.

As for the tournament, are there special plugins for 2v2 that are up to date?

The CCT was Swiss and everyone seemed to play just fine.

Well the swiss system kinda worked for cct ye but there were a lot troubles during the end since some teams with same score went ahead and others not because they lost their first game/s and did not get a chance to build a higher resisitance.
Imo for regular tournament with a decent amount of teams (24 - 32 or smth) a group system is allways better then the swiss system since its more fair imo.
Whatever for a 2v2 it would be definatly the best choice to go single or maybe just maybe a double elimination since like someone mentioned before people will at least play their 1 or 2 games quite quick and quickness is what 2v2 tournaments are about imo...
No sense in having a 3 months 2v2 tournament coz people wont stick to deadlines or lose interest during the time of the tournament...

just my 5 cents..

Da11as: Hey guys I'm having another tournament! No, I haven't yet figured out how to code double-elim, I know ppl have been complaining about single-elim for as long as I've been doing this, but hey, fuck that.

Learn to code better.

...or he could simply use a free online system to run the tournament. http://challonge.com/ offers a nice, easy to read and use interface for running single, double, round robin, and swiss style tournaments (with resistance points).

You're welcome.

^this. I'm all for coding, but why rewrite parts of something that already exists?

Or he could just use Excel and make the brackets himself. Just a thought.

That's too much like work! Can run a single elim on a post-it note.
