Really what we need is to do what we did in TFC back in the day... use a league to classify how good someone is.. Purp, Grizz, PSim, etc are Plat Level. Then you would have Gold, Silver and Bronze. That's how you'll have better tournies/ladders. Personally, I'd be all in favor of having a Ladder set up, for weekly battles between teams with some simple rules.

Rules like:

-Can only challenge one spot above you.
-Should the team not shot up or refuse in 10 days time, they forfiet their spot, so say, #9 challenges #8. #8 doesn't want to play, they become #9 and the new #8 can challenge #7.
-Benchmark teams (bottom of one Level, top of another) can challenge as well. Say Gold #1 Vs. Plat #10. It would then encourage a system of proper leveling which could make tournaments much more fun in the future.

These are just my ideas, as some of you have heard me say before. In order to keep a strong competitive feel to this game, it is going to need some more structure. This would promote gaming to the lesser skilled players, so we should all be able to have fun.

I just watched that... I miss dat map.

i fucking don't.

@stunt - i don't think we have enough teams that actually stay around between tournaments to do that.

There's only a handful of teams that actually keeps its line-up and name per tournament.
The rest gets used and abused every time a cup comes around, so yeah basically what Lyra said. :D

I understand that. I'm more concentrated on trying to set up the proper platform for L4D3 next year. If we give people something more tangible, I think we'd be better off. Of course, it is easy for me to say because I have a clan and am from the Clan Wars saga a decade ago. It takes getting back to that world to make a Ladder concept work. But even without the ladders, sectioning people off would not be a bad idea.

Needs more teams bringing out of retirement like "Velocity" and the NV killers themselves "Die Goldenen Knechte" (sp)

Possible a ladder system would motivate teams not to disband to ensure rankings in said ladder??

Tribes ascend uses ladder as well...did that for a moment then life ruined the team.

But yes teams in L4d are more like the wind or a fart they happen often alot of them stink some are deadly but they always Dissipate.

IDK just saying could be worth a shot..sounds like an ASSLOAD of work to maintain so finding people to handle and track all of that would be the crux to dyno past.

oh and yay for cct3 ;D

When will a map pool be announced ? Considering it is planned for October, with 2 months left i think it should be announced soon, especially if the maps are the same amount or more than CCT2, so that teams can have enough time to play through the maps and scrim on them so that it doesn't repeat where in CCT1 and CCT2 the majority of teams didn't ever play the maps before their official games.

Jacob and I need to discuss this, but I'd imagine that we would wait until we can release an update of some sort to ProMod for the entire map pool.  That way, people are practicing with "version" of the campaigns that are closest to how they will be in the actual competition.   Also, it's safe to say that all custom campaigns are pretty unenjoyable/bugged-as-hell before we fix them up for ProMod so I imagine it'd be a pretty big turn off to a lot of people if they were to just jump into them in their vanilla state and start pugging on them.

I agree that we want to have people playing on them ahead of time to discover bugs and balance issues.

Jacob and I also have a plan to enforce serious play-testing on the campaigns before the tournament goes live as well (in a fun way).

And any ideas for servers ? Far as i know with HyperV down for the US there is only one server in NY,same for LA (StickUpKids, i don't know american servers too well so correct me if i am wrong). And considering NY and LA seem to be ideal locations for intercontinental games it would be nice if there are more of them so that a scenario doesn't happen where 2 teams have to wait a certain amount of time so that a server would get free if in use, or if it's down for maintenance for it get back up.This way games will be delayed as little as possible and everyone should be happy then.

Well I saw this on the recent overall posts on the forum homepage and I just had to come here. It's finally a tournament I can partake in and I'm looking forward to it. So far, the only thing I can say is I'd love to see some sort of, I guess, reasonable format for setting up teams. Levels, say platinum, gold, silver, and bronze would be amazing to do for the teams. Obviously there are always different line-ups for teams, but why not hold some sort of poll for players that are on the teams, average it out in an equation of some sort and just rate the teams that way? It may sound like a hassle, but I'm sure it might make the tournament a little better in the long run. Obviously some players/viewers aren't going to know this person like they do another, but any vote can help in possible rankings. Just an opinion.
The impossible is just a line, only the brave ones are able to break it to become more powerful.
