Wow. We are almost done with the SND tournament. And what a ride. I can't be the only one thinking what a success this was that we were not expecting. 25 teams at the start down to a triple threat between Pubstar Vatican and the Fanclub. So right now i want to ask all of you what you want to see from the future of l4d2.

I was playing with an old friend that i havent seen in a while and we got to talking. Not to beat a dead horse, but i think it's time we addressed the config issue.

No one plays zonemod. All our problems got swept under a rug. Even after not playing for a month he was making more sense about acemod than ive ever seen. The reliance on the super uzi. The thought manifestation. And the water slowdown. Now that the tournament is almost over let's all work together for a better tomorrow for this community.

I really don't think making a config for l4d2 is a binary kind of solution. The problem is way more complex than just "this is the solution to the imbalance of the game". You can only really succeed in producing degrees of balance in respects to 'solving' the issue of balance. You can't really compare two configs like acemod and grizz's theoretical config because the criteria for the 'best' config is basically a subjective thing when you get down to the specifics. I think acemod is the closest we've ever come to a perfect config because it not only addresses game meta but it also took care of so many long standing nuances that hindered the fluidity of game play.


Although I still think that there is inherent issues with map design which completely hinder balance in ways that configs can't really address without using poor half measures like props and brushes. There is no solution and no ones going to make one at this stage..
