Zephyr reporting....
« on: May 20, 2014, 06:10:32 am »
When I first joined the PC side of Left 4 Dead, the first thing I did was add my good friend WoN. Turns out, she did the first thing also by telling me of Left 2 Learn. I joined the group and saw what the group was doing as I was making my way through A-school for the Navy and taking my personal leave and told myself that, "Hey! This could be the start of me making a name for myself." That's exactly what I'm making this post for.

I joined in some of the L2L games, playing against some pretty skilled newer players and even with some. I saw the big difference from having to transition from Xbox to PC. I played more and more, and though I was having more of an issue of talking to my team via Mumble, I was getting the hang of the PC side.

Now I'm on deployment and I see all of these tournaments being hosted with EQ, WatchL4D, and now the RBST (I think is the acronym?), and I'm wanting to start really making a name for myself. I'm a small person in the community right now, just along with everyone who first walks into this community, and after thinking about it for quite a while, I figure I can start off with L2L. Everyone has to start off somewhere, so why not one of the best resources to start off with?

I'd love to become something within the leadership/admin role for Left 2 Learn, or at least get some necessary training to become that. I can't guarantee that I'll ever have a set schedule week by week because again, I'm in the Navy but I will try my very best to do what I have to do to make sure that each week runs as smooth as it needs to be. I find myself as a very outgoing person, someone who can get along with just about everyone after working with multiple types of people throughout my life. I actually use to co-lead a clan after moderating for it after about four years, with the size of the clan being well over four hundred plus people. I can manage pretty well also thanks to being a manager at my last job before joining the military. My dedication and will to keep things going until there literally is no possible way for it to function is very high also, and my enthusiasm is probably one of the best you'll see around.

I don't know if I'm doing the right thing, or even saying the right things, but I guess I'll continue and put in this application! Hope something positive comes out of this post! Thanks!

If you want to help, that's always welcome. I don't know much about initiation mentoring though, I just think there's a level everyone must reach by himself. However if you have the patience to go for it, you're more than welcome.

As for "public recognition". If that's what you're after, then my best guess is you'd have to mentor either a player that will ultimately become very skilled and popular in the community, or at least a decent mid team. That should warrant you the necessary rep for this field of community contribution.

$10 says you aren't anywhere near a controlling position of the L4D3 scene in any continent when it happens.

Thing is he does what he wants, cause his able to and we are letting him do that. He abuses hes place and power in this community and people like me get banned for no reason. Only thing visor wants is more and more control so he can do what ever he wants.

You could always do what I did to make a name for myself... piss of nearly everyone in the community, rage quit, talk shit, dodge, stay mad cuz bad, be fatty American, rage moar. As long as people are talking about you, you win.  8)

Bumped. Hope to play with ya someday, boss.

I've been playing with Zephyr, or as I knew him "Lennon", for several years now. Fantastic guy with a great attitude and a willingness to learn as well as help others. I guess we're going to be playing together again soon since he's blowing up my facebook about it....Can't wait to see where he can take us! :p

Lol! Thanks there Skeletor (Cody!)! Much appreciated. I'm hoping that I will learn some of the ropes and use everything I learned to better this group for the overall community. I feel like I can help some of the L2L players develop into what I'm sure they want to develop into in the competitive scene or whatever.

Disco, I for sure will be keeping close contact with you. You were one I played a good bit of L2L games for and I hope we can play more and more whether it be scrims or actual games and whatnot.
