Small watchl4d.com announcement
« on: September 21, 2014, 02:16:15 pm »
I'm assuming most of the community that once came to watchl4d.com has probably trickled away by now, but just wanted to inform you all of a small update (might still be buggy).

http://www.watchl4d.com now has tabs for recent broadcasts and recently created highlights.

I've already enjoyed waking up in the morning and taking a peek at the broadcasts that went live after I went to bed... otherwise it'd require quit a bit of clicking on twitch to get the same effect.

Highlights and Recent Broadcasts currently only supports Twitch channels.

Enjoy.  As usual, you can leave feedback if you'd like.  It's not perfect, but it's something.

I doubt people have trickled away. I still use watchl4d all the time to watch tourny matches. It's way easier than trying to remember 10 individual twitch names. Also the layout of it looks better than ever.

I really wish WatchL4D only contained competitive(current/inactive) players only. The people that never touched Promod shouldn't really be on there. That's just my opinion though.

I think it should feature 24/7 killatoy videos.

Watchl4d is great. I use it everyday..

In quality and amount of streams it is the best website l4d 2 ever had to watch streams, not even the legendary l4d2tv was like this.

Great work Estoopi and keep it going. I am quite sure the community loves what you are doing.

Thanks for the kind feedback fellas :)

I agree with you actually.  The only reason a lot of pubby players are on it is to fill in the empty space during the day.... but maybe now that I'm adding other content, I can gradually phase them out.

Or more aptly prioritise or add the ability to filter streamers.

I'm sure that will keep site activity going through the roof with the abundance of tournaments currently going on,  and as far as I'm aware most of the consistently high viewed streamers do occasionally play promod mixes/pugs.  You can't put restraint on people using promod as the basis for your streams worth perhaps a sister site is required www.puglife.com?

Maybe as a way of fixing xbye's issue but also still catering to the more casual community you could put like an optional filter that would show only mid/high level+ or "competitive" streams that are chosen specifically by whoever, or maybe it could filter stream titles for words like "pug", "mix", "scrim", or "match".  I'm not really aware of any specifics behind WatchL4D or website design/programming in general or if my suggestions are realistic but keep doing what you're doing because it's awesome.  :D

edit: i know the speedrunslive website allows streamers to take their stream off the website by putting the [nosrl] tag in their title so maybe a [comp] tag in titles of streamers who wish to be labelled competitive would work.
