Cleaning up L4DNation
« on: March 15, 2013, 07:47:40 pm »
Hey everyone, as many of you know ProdigySim set up the forums and got everything running and I pay for the hosting. I'm very easy going and laid back when it comes to forum work, I let a lot of things slide. But lately the forums have been a tad bit "flamey" So I'm gonna step and try to clean this place up a bit, I'm gonna be counting on a few members to help along the way.

I want this site to be a good experience for people, fun and welcoming for new people and fellow L4D players. As a new player or just new to this site, it can be intimidating to post or even become a member for that reason. Due to fear of bashing or a list of any other reasons, even though it is internet and you shouldn't take it to heart, but you shouldn't have to come to L4DNation and feel like you cannot post just because you are not known or are worried you will be bashed. Everyone should have the right to express opinion, discuss games, issues, music, etc with fellow members. Criticism is allowed, but there is a fine line and member bashing OUTSIDE of the Flaming section will be met with a time out. Come on guys, do it for me at least :)

I came from a game community where the community was x10 worse than this one, that is just how it was. So I have made a sub forum for Flaming alone. You can bash Videos, players, celebs, cats, etc. I don't care (just keep it within reason!) As long as you do it here and not out there in the general discussions.

It is here:
http://www.l4dnation.com/flaming-such/

So from here on out, keep it clean and keep the flaming down to a minimum. You have been told! Now lets keep this game alive, have fun and hopefully we can see some new faces on this site!

I thought the section that Fig created "Hackers/Cheaters/ect." was also the flaming section? Wouldn't it be better to just put it into the same subform, rename the subform to have "Hackers/Cheaters/Flamers" since there's already a whole lot of flaming going on in there? As it is, whenever someone is hackusated it comes with a whole lot of trolling/flaming anyways.

Great to see this post though. Hopefully it'll help liven up the place with newer players overtime.

EDIT: It'd also be great if the "Trolling" sections didn't clutter up the "Recent Posts" area.

I fuckin like that!Like i said somewhere here before if you watch dem posts lately its so much non-sense bs posted not related to the game at all and stuff like tournament announcements or cfg discussions just get lost.
I think this forum is a big source for all L4D players out there and helps a lot regarding community work and gathering ressources so we should use it as such to inform and help people especially us,the so-called "oldschoolers".
Im really glad to see tho that many people are gettin active again about cct2 and joining the conversations about it,report bugs and help where they can, really hope it will stay that way so we see a reason to host more tournaments be it more cct`s or normal ones or even just pure fun tournaments for thje whole community.Even if its a gaming community(and bow is right there are really communities which are 10x worse then this one,i have seen the pain x) it doesnt hurt to come along with a bit profesionalism since i guess we all plan in having a bit fun with this game for maybe a bit longer ye?

I'll try to see if that is possible.

Some people have asked me on steam why even make the flaming section. I really think it serves purpose, I think people should have the right to trash talk and be like that. But too much is too much on the main threads, take it somewhere else. Cause even the people who do some trash talk or bashing still at points add input into discussions. So why not keep them seperate, obviously sometimes things will slide, but trying to keep them to a minimum.

I removed them from the "Recent topics" block on the home page. Didn't touch the forums page one.

I've been reading consistently the whole time this forum has been up, not posting much, but all the shit talking did annoy me... Good to see you take action against it... Especially when you can see from the CCT2 comming up that a lot of people actually use this forum...
